The Sommerview Story
Brittany Sommer DeSalvo attended BREC camps as a child and explored various activities, including swimming. But one pivotal moment at a swim meet changed everything: she didn't dive into the pool when the buzzer sounded. Instead, she walked to her mom and declared her sole passion: riding horses. From that day on, Brittany's mom gave unwavering support to her equestrian journey.
When Brittany was eleven, her mom initiated the barn's humble beginnings with just two stalls. She christened it "Tallyho," a name that echoed through her cheerful phone greetings—always amusing.
Her mom dedicated herself to devouring books on horsemanship and driving Brittany across state lines for lessons and competitions. Initially, her vibrant pink van and matching custom trailer became synonymous with each endeavor. Ultimately, their hard work paid off, as Brittany started succeeding nationwide. Over time, Brittany's mom became a local legend and a pioneer who impacted the industry, and many events acknowledged and celebrated her achievements.
During her twenties, Brittany faced a challenging situation when her mom was critically ill on life support. She had to step into the business side, grappling with tasks like accessing bank accounts. Amid these struggles, she decided to rename the barn "Sommerview."
Throughout their journey, Brittany's mom's legacy and impact endured. Brittany's mom remains the cornerstone of Sommerview's success, a beacon of inspiration honored by countless shows—a testament to her indelible mark on this industry.
OUR FACILITIES
Our facility features 28 stalls for boarding, 5 pastures for group turnout, two outdoor arenas, along with a full-service caretaker who resides on the premises. Additionally, we have a committed team of over 10 members supporting the operations.
LESSONS & EVENTS
Our program aims to help all of our riders achieve their goals from the local circuit to A and AA shows. Riders have the option to take private or small group lessons. Our barn attends close to 24 shows per year.

My dad took his last breath around 8:30 last night. He had unmatched wit to the very end. The last full coherent sentence he said was , “ BRITTANY WATER!!!! H2O Ever heard of it???? “ π π My mom always said being an attorney was my father’s verbal football.π I watched my dad take care of my mom for decades all while keeping his law office and sitting down to dinner every night with his two kids. He LOVED his granddaughter, family, Law practice, LSU , and his friends! My dad was happy ! Proud of my dad and his decision to start chemo today! Many doctors that are not his doctors for this cancer have come to see him. I feel it speaks volumes of who he is as a person. He is so kind to everyone even with the nees they keep delivering . My dad is italian .. he believes in taking care of the people you love. DeSalvo law firm has been together for over 20 years . He helped my mom with her illnesses everyday for 15 years . He never wavered in his support to help her and my favorite story about my dad… We had a bug man for our house, Mr. Ventrice. Well, Mr. Ventrice got older and my mom started complaining about the bugs. My dad then hired a big bug company to come on days that Mr. Ventrice didnt come. Mr. Ventrice never knew. Just as my dad did for everyone else.. im not leaving . Let the vanity go out the window! Ferris Buellers day off is where it’s at tonight! I love my dad!Button -

A year and a couple days after my mom’s passing and just before this past Christmas. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Our friends and especially Sommerview Farm has wrapped their arms tightly around our family. My point is .. I’m just seeing everything Rikki Broussard and Jared Broussard did for us. The Sommerviewfarm.com website is up. It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. It’s far and beyond just any π and you two will never fully know what this means to me. My parents built my profession .. it could possibly be the greatest gift you could ever give your child. Sommerview Farm was built on one mother’s drive to see her daughter’s dreams come true and a father who was not going to let them fail. She was an FEI jumper in Europe and has done up to the 1.30 here in the U.S. Over the last years she has taken multiple kids through the ranks up to the low child jumpers.. and been extremely successful doing that job. Her wins include Winning Texas and Zone 7 Horse of the Year. She has an easy leadchange, will not pull a rail, an uphill canter, she is very round, and is the kindest horse ever.. she will take a joke and keep on jumping!! πππ πππ THE COOL GIRL πππππ Over two decades ago.. I saw Adria Lehmann for the first time. She was dressed with the “ look” of the cool professional. Effortless And on trend… then I saw her ride. She had Natural ability on every horse she got on that weekend. Ok, so I was going to have to run her out of the Louisiana shows asap. π€£ Then she spoke and was so fun , outgoing, down to earth and lighthearted. Since then I’ve seen her train up many green horses to become the champions. I’m so happy to welcome my cool friend as our last clinician !! Saturday November 25 we welcome Adria .. everyone put on their cool gear as the cool girl comes to town! Adria’s first claim to fame in the jumpers was on a wild OTTB that she actually trained to do polo in high school- when she worked for a polo rider- then turned him into a jumper, placing top 6 in nearly every 1.25-1.35 mini Prix she did. That just lead to more jumper mounts where she continued to win welcomes/Prixs around the southeast. - rode/showed in Europe for European Sporthorses LLC and Obora Stables -2016 LA classic welcome winner 3rd Prix - 2016 took home the win in the Germantown charity gamblers choice and 3rd in the Grand Prix -top placings in Georgia, Charleston SC, Tryon, Ocala, Louisiana and more.Button -

I use her in all types of lessons, beginning camps, and last weekend.. She went to the horse show with TWO different kids. One did long stirrup and the other 2’6 jumpers. I do think she could make up to be something fancy in the hunter ring. Really really good leadchanges. She is very balanced. She is kind, I’ve never seen her stop or spook. ππ CONGRATULATIONS HOLLYWOOD ππ Sid Fremins” Hollywood.. has made it into the arms of a kind , gentle, and very talented rider. We couldn’t be happier for Adam and his new horse! Sid Fremin has found Sommerview Farm well overοΏΌ 20 horses. Four have gone on to do National things .. such as Winning Zone 7 , two qualified for and competed in the National Pony Finals, multiple blue ribbons at World Equestrian Center, Champion of Gulfport, End of the year Championship for Mississippi and Louisiana! Although Sid has a great eye.. he will never be better than his wife. So there is that. π€£ I might not get diamonds but I sure do get horses. We are excited to watch Emma and Billy not only do the jumpers but also the start the equation\medals!! π₯³ Dakota Johnson had many first π₯³ at the beautiful venue it was her first time in a higher division on her new horse whiskey and brought home a blue ribbon and a third in her class!
